Create a Sim with a personality you would never have picked yourself. The Sims 3 Trait Generator rolls a full set of The Sims 3 traits for one Sim or a whole household, with the right number of traits for the life stage.
How it works
Choose the life stage and the generator picks that many traits – 2 for toddlers, 3 for children, 4 for teens and 5 for young adults and older. Opposite traits are never combined, so you won't get a Sim who is both Good and Evil or both Neat and a Slob. A result might read:
Bookworm, Hot-Headed, Green Thumb, Unlucky, Hopeless Romantic
Trait categories
- Mental – Artistic, Genius, Bookworm, Computer Whiz, Insane, Kleptomaniac, Perfectionist, Virtuoso.
- Physical – Athletic, Clumsy, Couch Potato, Daredevil, Lucky, Unlucky, Light Sleeper.
- Social – Charismatic, Evil, Flirty, Friendly, Hot-Headed, Loner, Party Animal, Shy, Snob.
- Lifestyle – Ambitious, Angler, Frugal, Green Thumb, Natural Cook, Never Nude, Vegetarian, Workaholic.
Limit the roll to one category if you want, for example, a purely social character.
Challenge ideas
Random legacy. Roll traits for every new heir and let their personality shape the story.
Opposites household. Roll two Sims and try to keep them living together happily.
Lifetime wish run. Give a random Sim a lifetime wish that suits – or clashes with – their traits.
How to use
Set how many Sims you want, pick a life stage and an optional trait category, then press Generate. Each line is one Sim. Copy or download the list and recreate your Sims in Create a Sim. Runs in your browser; not affiliated with Electronic Arts or Maxis.
Frequently Asked Questions
How many traits does a Sim get in The Sims 3?
In Create a Sim, toddlers get 2 traits, children 3, teens 4, and young adults, adults and elders 5. The life stage menu sets the number of traits for you.
Will I get traits that can't be combined?
No. The generator skips opposite pairs such as Good and Evil, Neat and Slob, Athletic and Couch Potato or Brave and Coward, so every set can be entered in the game.
Are expansion pack traits included?
A handful are: Hydrophobic, Gatherer, Star Quality, Avant Garde, Eco-Friendly, Loves the Cold and Loves the Heat. If you don't own those packs, just roll again.
Can I roll traits for a whole household?
Yes. Set How many Sims to the size of your family and each line becomes one Sim's trait set.
