Ideas for random DC characters

Build a team. Draw five characters and write the mission that would bring them together – a Suicide Squad of random picks is always entertaining.

Injustice-style matchups. Draw two names and decide who wins, using comic feats as evidence.

Reading list. Draw a character and look up their best-known storyline; it is an easy way to explore beyond Batman and Superman.

Art prompt. Redesign the random character for a different era – Victorian, cyberpunk or Wild West.

How to use

Set how many characters you want and choose a group, then press Generate. Starts with filters by first letter and No repeats keeps the list unique. Copy or download your picks. Runs entirely in your browser; not affiliated with DC.

Frequently Asked Questions

Around 130 heroes and villains: the Justice League, the Batman family, the Teen Titans and other young heroes, the Lantern Corps and cosmic characters, magic and supernatural heroes, and a large villains group from the Joker to Darkseid.

DC characters often belong to several teams – Starfire is both a Titan and a Justice League member, and Darkseid is both a cosmic figure and a villain. When you draw from All, each name is still counted only once.

Anti-heroes are listed where they started: Harley Quinn, Deadshot and the other Suicide Squad regulars are in Villains, while Catwoman herself sits in the Batman family. It is a judgement call – part of the fun is arguing about it.
