Random Pokemon Team Generator

Build a random Pokemon team in one click. The generator draws six different Pokemon (or any team size from one to six) from all nine generations, so every run gives you a fresh roster to battle, draw or play through a game with.

Options

  • Teams – make up to 50 teams at once, one per player.
  • Team size – classic six, or smaller teams for quick formats.
  • Generation – limit the pool to one region, from Kanto to Paldea, or use them all.
  • Allow legendaries – legendary, mythical and Ultra Beast Pokemon are excluded unless you turn this on.
  • No Pokemon shared between teams – guarantees every Pokemon in the draw is unique.

Ways to play with random teams

Random battles. Each player generates a team, then you build movesets on Pokemon Showdown and battle. Nobody gets to bring their usual meta picks.

Random team playthrough. Generate a team from the generation of the game you are playing and only use those six Pokemon for the story. Combine it with Nuzlocke rules for an extra challenge.

Draft night. Generate four teams with no shared Pokemon and let players pick whole teams in turn, or swap one Pokemon each round.

Art challenge. Draw all six team members together as a group portrait.

How it works

The generator shuffles the selected pool with a secure random number source and slices it into teams, so every Pokemon has the same chance. Copy or download the teams as plain text – one line per team. Nothing leaves your browser.

Frequently Asked Questions

Not by default. Legendary, mythical and Ultra Beast Pokemon are left out so teams stay balanced. Turn on Allow legendaries if you want a chance at Mewtwo, Rayquaza or Koraidon on your team.

With "No Pokemon shared between teams" switched on, every Pokemon in the whole draw is different, which is ideal for two-player battles. Switch it off and each team is drawn separately, so overlaps are possible, but a single team never has duplicates.

Yes. Set Team size anywhere from 1 to 6. Three-Pokemon teams work well for quick Showdown battles and Battle Factory style formats.

No, it only picks species. Choosing moves and held items yourself is part of the fun – or roll them with friends using your own house rules.
