Game ideas

Who am I? Generate one name per player, write each on a sticky note and stick it to someone else's forehead. Players ask yes/no questions to work out who they are.

Fishbowl (Celebrity). Generate 30 names, print or write them on slips and play three rounds: describe the person freely, then use only one word, then act it out silently. Because the same names repeat in every round, the game gets funnier as it goes.

Impression roulette. Generate a single celebrity and give yourself ten seconds to perform an impression. The rest of the group votes on how recognisable it was.

Drawing challenge. Artists use random celebrities as caricature prompts – a great way to practise exaggerating facial features.

How the picks work

Selections are made in your browser with a cryptographically secure random number generator, so every name in the chosen category has the same chance of appearing. With No repeats switched on the generator draws without replacement, exactly like pulling slips out of a hat. Use Starts with to find celebrities whose first name begins with a particular letter, which is handy for alphabet games.

A note on fame

Fame is regional and generational, so not every name will be known to every player. If your group is younger, try the Internet creators category; for a mixed-age family evening the Actors and Musicians categories work best.
