Random Superpower Generator

If you could have one superpower, what would it be? Let fate decide. The Random Superpower Generator picks a random superpower from 120 ideas – and, if you dare, adds a funny or painful drawback to keep things fair.

Power types

  • Physical – super strength, regeneration, elasticity, sonic scream.
  • Mental – telepathy, precognition, photographic memory, dream walking.
  • Elemental – pyrokinesis, cryokinesis, weather and gravity control, metal bending.
  • Cosmic & reality – time travel, portals, duplication, reality warping.
  • Animal & nature – echolocation, bioluminescence, camouflage, talking to animals.
  • Silly & weak – perfect parallel parking, finding the TV remote instantly, flying 2 cm off the ground.

Every power has a price

Turn on Add a drawback and every power comes with a catch – "only works on Tuesdays", "makes you glow bright pink", "costs you one random memory". Limitations are what make heroes interesting: Superman has kryptonite, and your character should have something too.

Ways to use it

Writers and game masters use random powers to spark original characters, villains and tabletop RPG abilities. Teachers use the silly list for creative-writing warm-ups ("write a day in the life of someone who can only teleport one meter"). Friends play "would you rather" by generating two powers each and debating which is better.

How to use

Choose a power type or keep All, set how many powers you want, and toggle Add a drawback and Show power type. Starts with filters by first letter and No repeats keeps the list unique. Copy or download the result for your notes.
