Pictionary Word Generator

Game night needs fresh words. The Pictionary Word Generator picks words to draw from five lists – easy, medium, hard, actions and kids – so every round is fair and nobody has to think up prompts.

Word lists

  • Easy – 40 simple objects like apple, kite, snake and pizza.
  • Medium – 40 detailed things such as lighthouse, scarecrow, parachute and roller coaster.
  • Hard – 35 abstract ideas and phrases: gravity, homesick, procrastination, brain freeze and rush hour.
  • Actions – 25 verbs to draw, from juggling and sneezing to bungee jumping.
  • Kids – 25 friendly words for young players: teddy bear, crown, dinosaur and ladybug.

How to play Pictionary

  1. Split into two or more teams.
  2. One player from a team gets a secret word and has 60 seconds to draw it.
  3. No letters, numbers or spoken clues – gestures at the drawing are allowed in most house rules.
  4. Their team guesses out loud. A correct guess scores a point; then the next team draws.
  5. Play until a team reaches ten points, or play a set number of rounds.

Variations

All play. Both teams guess at the same time on hard words – the first team to shout the answer wins the point.

Mixed difficulty. Easy words score one point, medium two and hard three. Players choose their risk.

Online play. Paste a generated list into the custom words box of Skribbl.io, Gartic Phone or a shared whiteboard game for remote parties.

Classroom review. Teachers can use drawing games to review vocabulary in English or a foreign language – generate easy words and ask students to name them in the target language.

How to use

Choose a difficulty or keep All, set How many and press Generate. No repeats keeps the list unique, and you can copy or download the words to print as cards.
