Random NBA Player Generator

Get a random NBA player for trivia, debates and video game challenges. The list mixes today's biggest stars with the legends who built the league, and you can draw from one group or all of them at once.

Player groups

  • Current guards – Stephen Curry, Luka Doncic, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Anthony Edwards, Jalen Brunson, Tyrese Haliburton and more.
  • Current forwards – LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Jayson Tatum, Kawhi Leonard, Paolo Banchero and more.
  • Current centers – Nikola Jokic, Joel Embiid, Victor Wembanyama, Anthony Davis, Bam Adebayo, Chet Holmgren and more.
  • All-time greats – Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, Kobe Bryant, Shaquille O'Neal, Hakeem Olajuwon, Bill Russell and other Hall of Famers.

Games and challenges

Start, Bench, Cut. Draw three players and decide who you start, who comes off the bench and who you cut. Arguing is mandatory.

Who am I? One person draws a player in secret; everybody else asks yes-or-no questions about position, era and teams until someone guesses the name.

2K builds. Draw a player and recreate their game in NBA 2K, or draft a random starting five and try to win a game with them.

Era debates. Draw one current star and one legend and debate who would win a one-on-one.

Using the generator

Choose how many players you want and a group, then press Generate. Starts with lets you narrow names by first letter – handy for alphabet games – and No repeats keeps every player in a draw unique. Copy or download the list when you're done; nothing is sent to a server.

Frequently Asked Questions

Just over 100 names: current stars split into guards, forwards and centers – from Stephen Curry and Nikola Jokic to Victor Wembanyama and Cooper Flagg – plus 40 all-time greats such as Michael Jordan, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Kobe Bryant and Tim Duncan.

Draw two players from Current guards, two from Current forwards and one from Current centers, or simply draw five from All for a chaotic lineup. Keep No repeats on so nobody is picked twice.

The current groups cover well-known players of the mid-2020s. Rosters change every season, so the list focuses on recognisable names rather than complete team rosters, and players are not tied to a specific team.

Try "Start, Bench, Cut" with three random players, guess-the-player trivia, NBA 2K MyTeam challenges or a fantasy draft where each manager gets random picks.
