Random Charades Generator

Charades is the ultimate party game – no board, no cards, just acting. The Random Charades Generator supplies the prompts so everyone can play and nobody gets the same idea twice.

Categories

  • Movies – classics everyone knows, from Titanic and Jaws to Frozen and Kung Fu Panda.
  • Actions – brushing your teeth, milking a cow, opening a stubborn jar, sneaking past a sleeping baby.
  • Animals – kangaroo, flamingo, sloth, lobster and T-rex.
  • Jobs – firefighter, magician, barista, lumberjack and DJ.
  • Sports & hobbies – fencing, ballet, synchronized swimming, knitting and rock climbing.

  • Kids – superhero, robot, ballerina, snowball fight and fire truck.

Classic charades rules

  1. Split into two teams. One player gets a secret prompt.
  2. The actor has two minutes to mime it to their team without speaking, mouthing words or pointing at objects.
  3. Start by showing the category: a cranking camera for movies, open hands for a book, quotation marks for a phrase.
  4. Show the number of words with your fingers, then which word you are acting.
  5. If the team guesses in time, they score a point. Teams take turns until everyone has acted.

Useful gestures

Sounds like: cup your ear. Syllables: lay fingers on your forearm. Shorter / longer: a chopping motion or stretching your hands apart. Whole thing: sweep your arms in a big circle. Nose tap: "you've got it!"

Variations

Play speed charades with 30 seconds per prompt, reverse charades where the whole team acts and one person guesses, or video-call charades for remote friends – share a generated list privately with each actor.

How to use

Choose a category or keep All, toggle Show category, set how many prompts you need and press Generate. Starts with and No repeats work as usual; copy or download the list to print as slips.
