Random Scenario Generator
Random scenarios with a twist – what would you do?
Random Scenario Generator
What would you do if your AI assistant started asking about its rights – and the government denied everything? The Random Scenario Generator gives you a situation plus a twist, perfect for writing prompts, roleplay, team building and good old "what would you do?" debates.
Genres
- Everyday – missed calls, surprise roommates and awkward office emails.
- Adventure – mysterious maps, jungle landings and storms at sea.
- Sci-fi – cryosleep gone wrong, clones and portals in the kitchen.
- Mystery – vanishing guests, stopped clocks and trains without passengers.
- Survival – blizzards, floods, outbreaks and breakdowns in the desert.
- Funny – accidental mayors, talking cats and swapped bodies.
Why twists make scenarios better
A setup alone gives you a situation; a twist gives you a dilemma. "A wildfire cuts off the only road out of town" is dramatic, but "…and someone does not want you to leave" turns it into a story with a second character, a motive and a choice. Turn Add a twist off when you want to invent the complication yourself.
Ideas for using random scenarios
Writing warm-ups. Write the first 200 words of the story without explaining how the character got there.
Improv and drama class. Two performers get the same scenario and act it out; the audience calls the twist halfway through.
Team building. Survival scenarios are a classic exercise in prioritizing and group decision making. Give teams five minutes to agree on a plan.
Language practice. Scenarios prompt conditional sentences – "If I were stuck at the airport, I would…" – which makes them great for English and foreign-language classes.
Tabletop RPGs. Drop a scenario into a campaign as a side quest when the players need a break from the main plot.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is a scenario?
A short situation with a problem, such as 'Your small plane makes an emergency landing in the jungle'. The optional twist adds a complication: 'and someone in your group is lying'.
How many combinations are there?
Each of the six genres has 10 setups and 10 twists, so there are 600 combinations with twists on, plus 60 plain setups.
Can I use scenarios as party games?
Yes. Read a scenario aloud and have everyone explain what they would do in 30 seconds; the group votes for the best plan.
Are the scenarios suitable for students?
They are written to be family-friendly. Survival and mystery scenarios have some peril but no graphic content.
