Strikethrough Text for Facebook
Crossed-out text is perfect for jokes, corrections and price drops – "I'm not crying I'm fine" style humour or "$49 $29" in a sale post. Facebook has no strikethrough button in normal posts, but a Unicode combining mark draws the line for you. Type above and copy the result.
Styles
- Strikethrough – a long horizontal line through the middle of each letter.
- Short strikethrough – a shorter stroke that renders more evenly on some phones.
- Slashed – a diagonal slash through every character, like a "no" sign.
- Bold strikethrough – bold sans-serif letters with a line through them for stronger contrast.
- Tilde strikethrough – a wavy line through the text.
- Underline and double underline – the same technique below the letters instead.
How the line is made
Unicode has "combining" characters that attach to the character before them instead of taking their own space. The generator inserts U+0336 (combining long stroke overlay) after every letter, number and symbol, but skips spaces and line breaks so the result stays tidy. Because it is still plain text, it works in Facebook posts, comments, Messenger, X, Instagram captions, LinkedIn and YouTube comments.
Ideas for crossed-out text
Show a discount by crossing out the old price, poke fun at yourself with a crossed-out first thought, mark completed items in a list post, or correct a typo without deleting the original. Keep it short – long strikethrough paragraphs are hard to read.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I cross out text on Facebook?
Type your words above, copy the strikethrough version and paste it into your Facebook post or comment. A combining long stroke overlay (U+0336) is added after every character, so the line is drawn through the text.
Why does the line look broken on some phones?
The line is drawn per character by the device font. Some fonts position the stroke slightly differently, which can leave small gaps between letters. The short stroke style often looks cleaner on those devices.
Can I cross out only part of a sentence?
Yes. Convert just the words you want crossed out, copy them, and paste them into your normal sentence. This is the classic way to show a correction or an old price.
