Glitch Text Generator

Give your words a corrupted-screen, digital-error look. The glitch text generator randomly switches some letters to different Unicode fonts and sprinkles combining marks over them, producing text like 𝔰y𝘀̖t͚e̷m̗ 𝐞r͔r̴𝓸r. Copy it into Discord, TikTok bios, gaming names, video titles or cyberpunk artwork.

Five glitch flavours

  • Glitch – the main effect: font switching plus noise based on your settings.
  • Light glitch – half the intensity, readable but still unstable.
  • Vaporwave glitch – wide fullwidth letters with noise for retro aesthetics.
  • Scanline glitch – a light glitch with a stroke through every character, like a bad monitor scanline.
  • Terminal glitch – monospace letters with noise, perfect for hacker themes.

Settings

Move the glitch intensity slider to control how many letters switch fonts and how much noise is added. Turn off mix fonts for glitch noise without font switching. Every change rolls a new random pattern; press Regenerate to try another one with the same settings.

How it is made

The effect combines two Unicode tricks: Mathematical Alphanumeric Symbols, which provide alternative letter shapes, and combining diacritical marks, which stack on top of and below letters. A seeded random generator decides which letters change. Everything runs in your browser and the output is plain text.

Tips

Glitch text is most striking on short words and titles. On X each styled letter counts as two characters, and some apps strip heavy combining marks, so test before posting. For heavier distortion try the Cursed Text Generator; for broken-data style use the Corrupted Text Generator.

Frequently Asked Questions

Glitch text randomly swaps some letters for other Unicode font styles (bold, Gothic, script, monospace) and adds combining marks, so the word looks like it was damaged on a broken screen.

Cursed text stacks lots of marks on every letter. Glitch text uses fewer marks but mixes fonts inside the word, which looks more like a digital error than a horror effect.

Yes. The result only changes when you edit the text, move a setting or press Regenerate. Copy the version you like before regenerating.
