Cursed Text Generator

T̷u̸r̵n̶ ̴a̸n̷y̵ ̶t̷e̴x̵t̸ into creepy, glitchy "cursed" text. Type a message above, choose how intense the curse should be and copy the result into Discord, a meme, a horror story post or a spooky username. Press Regenerate to roll new random marks.

Controls

  • Intensity – how many marks are stacked on each letter (1 is subtle, 15 is chaos).
  • Marks above / through / below – choose where the marks appear. Turn off "through" for a cleaner look, or keep only "below" for dripping text.

Five curse levels at once

The tool always shows five variants from the same settings: the standard cursed text, a slightly haunted version for readable spookiness, a fully possessed version with twice the marks, melting text that drips downward, and rising text that floats upward.

How zalgo text works

Unicode allows "combining" characters that attach to the previous character, like an accent on é. Normally a letter has one or two, but nothing stops you from adding twenty. The generator picks random marks from the Combining Diacritical Marks block and adds them after each letter, skipping spaces so words stay separated. The output is still plain text, so it copies and pastes anywhere.

Use it responsibly

Very heavy zalgo can make chats hard to read and some platforms trim or block it. Screen readers may read every mark, so keep cursed text for fun posts, not for important information.

More spooky styles

Try the Glitch Text Generator for a digital-error look, the Corrupted Text Generator for broken data vibes, or the Gothic Font Generator for a darker classic font.

Frequently Asked Questions

Zalgo text is normal text with many Unicode combining diacritical marks stacked on each letter. Because the marks pile up above and below the line, the text looks glitchy, creepy or "cursed". The name comes from an early-2000s internet horror meme.

Combining marks are drawn relative to the letter they attach to and are not counted in the line height, so heavy zalgo spills into the lines above and below. Lower the intensity if it covers too much.

Yes. All the marks are in the Combining Diacritical Marks block (U+0300–U+036F). Removing those characters restores the original letters; our text cleaning tools can do it in one step.

The marks are chosen randomly. Press Regenerate to roll a new combination with the same settings until you like the shape.
