Notepad Online – Free Browser Notepad

A fast, private notepad that opens instantly and keeps your notes between visits. There is no account, no sign-up and no upload: everything is saved in your browser on this device.

What you can do

  • Write and save automatically – type and your note is stored locally a moment later.
  • Keep several notes – add notes with the plus button and switch between them with tabs; give each a title.
  • See live statistics – word, character and line counts update as you type.
  • Copy or download – copy the text with one click or download it as a .txt file named after the note title.
  • Delete when done – remove a note you no longer need; one blank note always stays so the notepad is never empty.

Good uses

Quick to-do lists, meeting notes, drafts of emails and posts, a scratchpad for copied snippets, a place to park text while you work in other tools, or a simple journal. Because it is just plain text, it is lightweight and works on slow connections and old devices.

Privacy and limits

Your notes live in your browser's local storage, which is usually limited to a few megabytes. That is plenty for text, but it means notes are tied to this browser profile: they do not sync across devices, and clearing site data or using a private window removes them. If your browser blocks storage the tool tells you and you can still write and download your text. Treat the notepad as a convenient scratchpad rather than a vault, and keep a downloaded copy of anything you cannot lose. Do not store passwords in it.

Clean up pasted text with the Text Formatter, check your length with a word counter, or turn your note into a handwritten page with Text to Handwriting.
