Favicon Generator — ICO, PNG & Web Manifest

Create a complete favicon package for your website from a logo or from text and emoji. The generator produces a multi-size favicon.ico, PNG icons for browsers, an Apple touch icon, Android / PWA icons, a ready-made site.webmanifest and the HTML <link> tags — all in one ZIP. Everything is generated in your browser, so your logo is never uploaded.

What is in the package

File Size Used by
favicon.ico 16, 32, 48 px All browsers, bookmarks, Windows
favicon-16x16.png / favicon-32x32.png 16 / 32 px Modern browser tabs
apple-touch-icon.png 180 px iOS & iPadOS home screen
android-chrome-192x192.png / -512x512.png 192 / 512 px Android, installable PWAs
site.webmanifest — Name, icons and theme color for web apps

The ICO file stores PNG-compressed images with full alpha transparency, the format supported by every current browser and by Windows since Vista.

From an image

Start with a square logo of at least 512 × 512 px, ideally a PNG with a transparent background. Choose Contain to fit the whole image, or Cover to crop it to a square. Small icons are created by halving the image step by step, which keeps edges smooth at 16 and 32 px. Add a background color, margin and rounded corners to make a busy logo readable in a tiny browser tab.

From text or emoji

No logo yet? Type one to four letters or an emoji, choose the background and text colors and a font family, and you instantly get a clean, recognizable icon — great for side projects, documentation sites and internal tools.

Installing the favicon

Copy the files to the root of your site and paste the generated tags into the <head>. Check the result in several browsers and on a phone home screen. To round the corners of other images use Round Corners Image; to convert formats use PNG to JPG and the other converters.

Frequently Asked Questions

A favicon.ico (16, 32 and 48 px) for classic browsers and bookmarks, 16 and 32 px PNGs for modern browsers, a 180 px apple-touch-icon for iPhone and iPad home screens, and 192/512 px icons referenced from site.webmanifest for Android and installable web apps. The ZIP package contains all of them.

Upload every file from the ZIP to the root of your website (next to index.html) and paste the HTML tags into the head section of your pages. Browsers also request /favicon.ico automatically, so keeping it in the root is important.

Browsers cache favicons aggressively. Hard-reload the page, open it in a private window, or add a version query such as /favicon.ico?v=2 to the link tags after changing the icon.

Yes. Switch to the From text / emoji tab, type one to four characters or an emoji, then pick colors, font and corner rounding. It is a quick way to get a clean icon before you have a logo.
