TSV to CSV
Convert tab-separated values to CSV.
TSV to CSV Converter Online
The TSV to CSV converter turns tab-separated values into comma-separated values that almost every database, CRM, e-commerce platform, and analytics tool can import. Paste TSV — including cells copied straight out of Excel or Google Sheets — or open a .tsv file, and the CSV is produced instantly in your browser.
Correct quoting, automatically
TSV values never need quotes, but CSV values do whenever they contain the separator. A product called USB-C Hub, 7-in-1 or a name like Smith, John would otherwise be split across columns. The converter applies the RFC 4180 rules for you: such values are wrapped in double quotes and any quote characters inside them are doubled, so Chloe "CJ" Martin becomes "Chloe ""CJ"" Martin".
Output options
- CSV separator – comma for most tools, semicolon for Excel in regions that use a decimal comma, or pipe for systems that treat commas and semicolons as data.
- Quote every field – some legacy importers and banking portals insist on quoted values everywhere; this switch satisfies them.
- First row is a header – with it off, the first line is handled like any data row and no generated column names are added to the output.
Converting back
Switch the mode to CSV to TSV, or click the swap button, to go the other way. In that direction the separator of the CSV input is detected automatically, so comma, semicolon, and pipe files all work. A table preview below the editors shows the converted rows so you can verify every column lines up.
Good to know
Cells are trimmed of surrounding whitespace while reading, empty cells are kept as empty fields, and rows with missing trailing cells are padded so each line has the same number of separators. Everything runs locally; no file leaves your device.

Frequently Asked Questions
When should I use a semicolon instead of a comma?
Choose the semicolon when the CSV will be opened in Excel on a system whose regional settings use a comma as the decimal separator — common across Europe and in Turkey. Excel there expects semicolon-separated files and would otherwise put each whole line into a single cell.
Which values get quotes in the CSV output?
Only values that need them: those containing the chosen separator, a double quote, a line break, or leading or trailing spaces. Inner double quotes are doubled, as RFC 4180 requires. Turn on “Quote every field” to wrap every value, header included, in quotes.
Can I paste cells copied from Excel or Google Sheets?
Yes. Spreadsheets copy selected cells to the clipboard as tab-separated text, so pasting them here and converting gives you a proper CSV file — a quick way to extract part of a sheet without saving the whole workbook.
