Full White Screen

Turn your entire display into a clean, solid white canvas with one click. Press Go full screen and the page fills the monitor, hiding the browser bars, tabs and every distraction. It works in desktop, laptop, tablet and phone browsers that support the Fullscreen API.

What a white screen is useful for

  • Emergency light. A bright white display lights up a dark room, a desk or your face during a video call.
  • Dead pixel and dust checks. White exposes dark dots, smudges, dust behind the glass and uneven backlight at a glance.
  • Scanning and photography. Use it as a bright, even backdrop for product shots, film negatives, slides and translucent objects.
  • Color calibration. A neutral white lets you judge tint, banding and brightness uniformity across the panel.
  • Presentations and breaks. Blank the projector to a clean white when you want the audience to look at you rather than at the slides.

How to use it

  1. Pick a color: White, Black, Red, Blue or any custom hex such as #fafafa.
  2. Press Go full screen.
  3. Press Esc or click the screen to return.

The preview box shows exactly what the display will look like, and the custom hex field accepts three or six digit codes with or without the hash sign.

Tips

Raise the screen brightness to the maximum for lighting or testing, clean the glass first so smudges are not mistaken for defects, and let an LCD warm up for a few minutes before judging uniformity. Look straight at the panel, because viewing angles can shift the perceived tint.

Yes. A full white display at maximum brightness works as a soft fill light for video calls, makeup, reading a document or taking a photo in a dark room. It is not a replacement for a real lamp, but it is surprisingly useful in a pinch.

Fill the display with white and look closely for dark or colored dots. Stuck dark pixels and dust under the panel stand out on white, while stuck bright pixels are easier to see on black. Cycle through the other colors with the buttons for a full check.

A bright white screen in a dark room can be tiring, so lower the brightness and take breaks. It does not damage a healthy LCD or OLED panel, although leaving a static image on for many hours is best avoided on OLED.
