BBCode Editor
Write BBCode with a toolbar and a live preview.
Online BBCode Editor
Writing a long forum post in a tiny reply box is painful: you cannot see the formatting, tags are easy to forget to close, and one mistake breaks the whole layout. The BBCode Editor gives you a roomy editing area, a toolbar for the most common tags and a live preview next to your text, so you can compose guides, announcements, patch notes and reviews comfortably and paste the finished code into any forum.
Toolbar
The toolbar inserts bold, italic, underline and strikethrough, links and images, quotes, code blocks, bulleted lists, colored text, larger text and centered blocks. Select text first to wrap it, or click without a selection to insert a placeholder you can overwrite. The cursor ends up inside the new tag, so you can keep typing without reaching for the mouse.
Live preview
Every keystroke updates the preview. Nested tags, lists inside quotes and multi-line code blocks are rendered the same way most boards display them, and unsafe links are neutralised so the preview is always safe to look at. The counter under the editor shows characters, words and lines — useful for forums with post length limits.
Writing tips
- Close tags in reverse order:
[b][i]text[/i][/b]. - Use
[list=1]for numbered steps and[*]for each item. - Put configuration files and commands inside
[code]so spacing is preserved. - Keep color for emphasis only; many readers use dark themes.
When you are done, copy the code or download it as a text file. Need the HTML for a blog instead? Use the BBCode to HTML converter, or read existing posts in the BBCode Viewer.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do the toolbar buttons work?
Select some text and click a button to wrap it in the tag, for example [b]...[/b]. With nothing selected, a placeholder is inserted and selected so you can type over it.
Is my draft saved?
The draft lives in the page while it is open. Use Copy or Download .txt to keep it; closing the tab discards the text because nothing is stored on a server.
Which forums accept this BBCode?
The editor uses the tag set shared by phpBB, vBulletin, MyBB, SMF, XenForo and most game forums. Exotic tags differ between boards, so check your forum's BBCode help page for extras.
Can I get HTML instead of BBCode?
Yes. Click Download HTML to save the rendered post, or paste the text into the BBCode to HTML converter to copy the HTML source.
