DNS Lookup

Check all DNS records of a domain.

DNS Lookup

Check the DNS records of any domain online. Choose a record type — or All — and get the current A, AAAA, CNAME, MX, NS, TXT, SOA, CAA and SRV records with their TTLs, straight from public resolvers.

DNS record types explained

  • A / AAAA — the IPv4 and IPv6 addresses of a name.
  • CNAME — an alias that points one name to another hostname.
  • MX — mail servers that accept e-mail for the domain, ordered by priority.
  • NS — the authoritative nameservers that host the zone.
  • TXT — free-form text used for SPF (v=spf1 …), DKIM keys, DMARC policies and domain-verification tokens for Google, Microsoft and others.
  • SOA — start of authority: primary nameserver, admin mailbox, serial number and timers that control zone transfers and negative caching.
  • CAA — which certificate authorities may issue TLS certificates for the domain.
  • SRV — host and port of services such as SIP, XMPP or Minecraft servers.

Typical tasks

Verify that a new SPF or DMARC record is published, check that a domain-verification TXT token is visible, confirm a CNAME for a custom domain on Vercel, Netlify or GitHub Pages, or read the SOA serial to see whether your provider has applied an update. When a site is unreachable, an NXDOMAIN answer tells you the domain itself is missing — perhaps expired — while an empty answer means the record type simply is not set.

Focus on mail with the MX Lookup, see delegation with the Nameserver Lookup, or resolve addresses quickly with Hostname to IP.

Frequently Asked Questions

Queries go to public recursive resolvers — Cloudflare 1.1.1.1, Google 8.8.8.8 and Quad9 9.9.9.9 — from our server, so you see the answer the wider internet sees rather than your local cache.

Resolvers cache records until their TTL expires. If the old record had a TTL of 3600 seconds, some resolvers may keep returning it for up to an hour after you change it.

Yes. Enter the full name, for example _dmarc.example.com with type TXT for a DMARC policy, or _sip._tcp.example.com with type SRV.

It runs A, AAAA, CNAME, MX, NS, TXT, SOA, CAA and SRV lookups in parallel and shows every record found in one table. DNS 'ANY' queries are refused by most servers, so the tool asks for each type separately.
