Spell out numbers in English words instantly. Four output styles
- Words – the standard cardinal form. Decimals are read digit by digit after "point":
3.14→ "three point one four". - Ordinal – positions and dates:
1→ "first",12→ "twelfth",23→ "twenty-third",100→ "one hundredth". - Currency – amounts rounded to cents:

Why write numbers in words?
Banks require the amount in words on checks so it cannot be altered easily. Contracts, invoices, and legal documents often repeat amounts in words to avoid disputes. Style guides such as AP and Chicago ask writers to spell out small numbers and numbers at the start of a sentence. Teachers and language learners also use number words to practise spelling and pronunciation.
American vs. British style
By default the tool writes American English ("one hundred five"). Switch on British "and" for "one hundred and five" and "one thousand and twenty". Hyphens are always used for compound numbers from twenty-one to ninety-nine, as all major style guides recommend.
Large numbers
The short scale used in English-speaking countries is applied: thousand, million, billion (10⁹), trillion (10¹²), quadrillion, quintillion, and so on up to vigintillion (10⁶³). Commas, spaces, and currency symbols in the input are ignored, so you can paste amounts straight from a spreadsheet.

How do you write 1,500 in words?
One thousand five hundred. In informal American English you may also hear 'fifteen hundred', but for checks and documents 'one thousand five hundred' is the standard form.
How do I write a check amount in words?
Choose the 'Check writing' style. The dollars are spelled out and the cents written as a fraction of 100, e.g. 1250.50 → 'One Thousand Two Hundred Fifty and 50/100 Dollars'.
Should I use 'and' in numbers like 105?
In American English 'and' is usually left out (one hundred five) and reserved for the decimal point in currency. British English includes it (one hundred and five). Use the switch to pick your style.
What is the largest number supported?
